Welcome to Home Ed. Circles: Your Home Education Community
Home education is a journey filled with opportunity, flexibility, and creativity. Parents choose it for many reasons: freedom in learning, personalised approaches, or to create a more nurturing environment for their children. Yet despite its many rewards, home education can also feel isolating. Many families wonder: where do I find activities? How do my children socialise? Where do I meet other parents on the same journey?
That’s why we created Home Ed. Circles, a dedicated home education community designed to bring families together. It’s a place where learning goes beyond the home — into local groups, shared adventures, and supportive connections.
What is Home Ed. Circles?
At its heart, Home Ed. Circles is about connection. We believe that children learn best when they can explore the world with others, while parents thrive when they are supported by a network of families who truly understand the challenges and joys of home education.
Here’s what you’ll find in our growing home education community:
- Discover activities and adventures in your area — Search and filter meetups, learning circles, forest walks, science clubs, creative workshops, and more.
- Connect with other parents nationwide — Ask questions, share resources, and build friendships through our free community hub.
- Join discussions designed for HomeEd families — Talk about curriculum choices, socialisation strategies, and day-to-day challenges in a safe, supportive space.
- Share your voice in the Circle Journal — Our blog is open to parents who want to share their experiences, resources, and personal stories with the wider community.
- Attend national events online and offline for parents and children – We aim to invite specialists in English, Maths and Science as well as other fields to support parents to ace home schooling.
- Watch and listen to experienced HomeEd. parents – We have an ambition to start a casual podcast for parents to take in advice from experienced practitioners.
By bringing these opportunities together in one place, Home Ed. Circles makes it easier for parents and children to build circles of learning, friendship, and growth.
Why We Started Home Ed. Circles
The founders of Home Ed. Circles come from a strong background in education, with experience spanning from classroom teaching to leadership at the highest level as a Head of a Primary School. Alongside this professional expertise, we have also walked the home education journey at Primary level with our own families.
We noticed a gap: while home education is growing rapidly across the UK, the resources and activities available to parents are scattered and inconsistent. Many families spend hours piecing together ideas from social media groups, local WhatsApp chats, or word-of-mouth recommendations.
We felt there had to be a better way.
That’s why we built Home Ed. Circles — to provide a progressive, professional, and accessible home education community where parents can find everything they need in one place. Our aim is to support families who are just starting out as well as those who have been home educating for years, offering inspiration, connection, and a central hub of resources and activity.
Why a Home Education Community Matters
Choosing home education means freedom and flexibility — but it can also come with challenges. The most common struggles we hear from parents include:
- Socialisation opportunities for children — Children want friends, peers, and shared experiences.
- Support for parents — Teaching at home can feel overwhelming without guidance or encouragement.
- Finding activities and resources — Opportunities exist, but they are often scattered and hard to discover.
- Assessment – Is my child on track? Is there anything I can do to help my child understand a subject or topic in a more meaningful way?
- Professional Development? – We know a home educator isn’t a profession as such, but for us, it’s much more than that. We are responsible for the development of the beautiful souls given to us. Surely we can research what the best way of learning is?
This is where a home education community makes all the difference. By bringing families together, Home Ed. Circles helps children learn in groups, explore new adventures, and form lasting friendships. At the same time, parents gain reassurance, fresh ideas, and a sense of belonging.
When we learn together, we thrive together.
